Innovative Project Brings Green Hammer to Ashland

Green Hammer’s design-build approach appealed to the clients, who wanted a thoughtfully designed home with a modern aesthetic as well as the best in energy-performance and green building practices. The home will utilize Passivhaus detailing throughout, including triple pane windows. Green Hammer Architect Jan Filinger, who is also a certified Passivhaus Consultant (CPHC), led the design. The home is slated to achieve LEED Platinum and the structure will use 100% FSC-certified wood, which will allow the home to claim FSC certification. The project should be complete in early 2013, making the total design/build timeline 18 months, which is about half the typical time to build a home of this size and complexity.
